Sometimes the arms that hold you are the ones that scald you
The words that save you are the ones that burn you When hurt by a foe it’s highly acceptable But when love bears wounds and no longer wings Then hearts bear holes no gauze can shield. Sometimes we exchange hearts for body parts, Trust for lust and joy for toying, Emotions are child-play, yellow-pages the more fun game Microwave relationships- the faster the better. Exchanging soul food for eye candy Pure love knows no feud It’s a rhythm without blues It’s one that reminds you that truth still exists It’s one that does not concur that revenge is a dish best served cold Instead it offers peace to those who comprehend it so Or a disturbance to those who know it not “Kill them with your love” they say Smother them and strike them until they can deny no more Until they declare that pure love does exist It’s not quite a mystery but a deed most choose not to perceive. “Love them with reckless abandon,” they cry Cloud their thoughts; let them throw caution to the wind Show the world you’d do it all just to embrace the nudity of love Cos pure love is masked souls lain bare veiling nothing
