I looked at her,
She looked at me. How rude of her to have stared at me with such lack of clarity, With the abundance of disparity set deep in her eyes. Her eyes! The once crystal-clear eyes They now bore a red tinge And what I'd call a haughty gaze. Those eyes judged me for the solemn look on my face. They taunted me for the tears I'd wept Tears over him, her, self, life- long list really. They laughed at me for being so weak For being so fixated on my notion of life But never changing to match those in bliss. Bliss! That word... Darn that word-it evaded me. Bliss wasn't something I could describe But she knew better than i' She lived it Besides all she did was look on. She looked at me I looked at her I walked away from her piercing gaze Besides what did she know? She was just but a mere reflection...

Sometimes the arms that hold you are the ones that scald you
The words that save you are the ones that burn you When hurt by a foe it’s highly acceptable But when love bears wounds and no longer wings Then hearts bear holes no gauze can shield. Sometimes we exchange hearts for body parts, Trust for lust and joy for toying, Emotions are child-play, yellow-pages the more fun game Microwave relationships- the faster the better. Exchanging soul food for eye candy Pure love knows no feud It’s a rhythm without blues It’s one that reminds you that truth still exists It’s one that does not concur that revenge is a dish best served cold Instead it offers peace to those who comprehend it so Or a disturbance to those who know it not “Kill them with your love” they say Smother them and strike them until they can deny no more Until they declare that pure love does exist It’s not quite a mystery but a deed most choose not to perceive. “Love them with reckless abandon,” they cry Cloud their thoughts; let them throw caution to the wind Show the world you’d do it all just to embrace the nudity of love Cos pure love is masked souls lain bare veiling nothing |
