Her eyes lit up whenever she saw him
Just like the first time he had said he loved her too She had turned 50 shades of red possibly Melted at his kind words Her blood bubbled in excitement For the first time in a long time he looked happy Genuinely happy But his eyes no longer glimmered His lips no longer curved into a smile His face no longer lit up when he saw her His expression was blank His eyes held a mystery yet to be uncovered even to himself They had a sad look As if scared to break her heart Scared to admit that he may have been wrong Scared to tell her the intimacy did not matter at least not any more That the hours spent in each others arms meant nothing That the kisses shared were merely a meeting of lips The words spoken full of promise were now empty They bore no weight, touched no heart He feared that once again he had damaged a beautiful soul Burnt it down to nothing So he took steps back As she took many forward He built a wall as she broke down her own He crossed his arms over his chest She spread hers wide open So she evaded the windows of his soul Perhaps then she could convince herself that it was all the same Besides do you know how it feels, To look into the eyes of the one person You have ever truly loved and know that Nothing is as is and nothing is what you think it is?
